BERLIN – A Collaborative Journey of Sound and Emotion

Music has always been a way to tell stories, and BERLIN is something very special—a collaboration that came together naturally. Created together with Electrix (Eric Horstmann) and Oine (Adrián Márquez Salas), this EP is more than just a collection of tracks—it’s an exploration of emotion, sound, and creative synergy.

With four unique versions of the title track, BERLIN offers a rich musical experience, each interpretation revealing a different side of the composition:

  1. Berlin
  2. Berlin (Orchestral Version)
  3. Berlin (Neoclassical Version)
  4. Berlin (Piano Version)

I’m especially excited that BERLIN is also available in Dolby Atmos. Released today on Sine Music, you can now experience it on Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music, where the Atmos mix brings out the depth and spatial detail of every note, allowing you to immerse yourself in the full sonic experience.

Adding to this exciting journey, BERLIN was recently awarded the German Songwriting Award in the category Best Immersive Mix—a testament to the incredible work that Eric Horstmann put into crafting its immersive Dolby Atmos sound.

The Story Behind BERLIN

The journey of BERLIN began in February 2024, when Oine and I traveled to Berlin to present our album One Vision in Dolby Atmos at the Genelec Experience Center. This was a special moment for us, as the album had been produced with Eric Horstmann, one of Germany’s most experienced Dolby Atmos engineers.

After the event, we visited Eric’s Berlin studio to learn more about his work. That’s when he played us a demo idea he had been experimenting with. The moment we heard its triplet rhythm, something clicked.

Adrián laid down a deep and driving bassline.
I started playing a piano melody that would eventually become the heart of BERLIN.

The energy in the studio was incredible, and we felt that something special was happening. However, as often happens, life and other projects took over, and the track was put on hold.

It wasn’t until December 2024 that I revisited the idea, refining the piano parts and composition. From there, Adrián took over, fleshing out the arrangement for the original version. As we worked on it, we realized that this track had more potential than just a single mix. We decided to explore different emotional perspectives of the song:

  • A neoclassical version that brings out its cinematic qualities.
  • An orchestral arrangement that adds drama and depth.
  • A pure piano version that strips everything down to the essence of the melody.

Finally, Eric worked his magic, taking BERLIN into Dolby Atmos, crafting immersive mixes that enhance every nuance of each version. His outstanding work on the mix was recognized at the German Songwriting Award, where BERLIN won Best Immersive Mix—a huge honor for all of us involved in this project.
