About the album
THE WIDE STILLNESS grew from a long-standing musical collaboration.
Following their previous albums MEERBLICK and BERGBLICK, Thomas Lemmer & Christoph Sebastian Pabst wanted to create something that felt less like two individual musical perspectives set side by side and more like one shared world.
Both artists brought their individual strengths into the creative process, but the shared vision always came first.
Composition, arrangement, piano, synthesizers, production, and sound design became part of one continuous dialogue. Ideas were developed, reshaped, and refined together until the boundaries between individual contributions became increasingly unimportant.
Inspired by the lakes, mountains, mist, reeds, water, and changing light of the Chiemgau, the album unfolds as one coherent landscape.
Sometimes intimate and fragile. Sometimes wide and cinematic.
Always connected by a sense of space, atmosphere, and stillness.
Two currents meet, but neither disappears.
The sound of THE WIDE STILLNESS
Piano forms the emotional center of the album, surrounded by analog synthesizers, organic textures, subtle electronics, and meticulously crafted sound design.
The arrangements are rich in detail without becoming crowded. Sounds emerge, disappear, and change almost unnoticed, while silence itself is given room to breathe.
Some pieces remain almost motionless. Others gradually introduce pulses, bass, strings, and evolving electronic layers beneath the surface.
The result moves between Ambient, cinematic electronica, and Downtempo, with melody, atmosphere, and emotion always at its center.
You do not simply listen to THE WIDE STILLNESS. You sink into it.

Thomas Lemmer and Christoph Sebastian Pabst share a fascination for atmospheric electronic music, melody, and the emotional power of sound.
Thomas’s work combines Ambient music, piano, cinematic electronics, and detailed sound design. Christoph’s musical world moves between Ambient, Downtempo, synthesizers, and organic textures, with a strong connection between music and landscape.
Their collaboration has developed over several years and previous albums, including MEERBLICK and BERGBLICK.
With THE WIDE STILLNESS, their individual approaches merge more closely than ever into a shared musical language.

THE WIDE STILLNESS was also created as a physical album experience.
The vinyl and CD editions extend the world of the music through photography and design, turning the album into something tangible – something to hold, collect, and return to.
In a world where music can be skipped within seconds, a physical album invites a different kind of attention.
The visual world
The visual identity of THE WIDE STILLNESS was created by Thomas Lemmer using original Polaroid photography.
The album cover is a genuine triple exposure created entirely in-camera. Three separate moments were captured within a single physical photograph, creating an almost surreal image that could never be reproduced in exactly the same way.
The vinyl and CD artwork continues this idea, featuring additional original Polaroids taken specifically for the project.
At a time when images can be generated and perfected almost instantly, THE WIDE STILLNESS deliberately follows another path – one built around authenticity, imperfection, and craftsmanship.

Dolby Atmos
THE WIDE STILLNESS will also be available in Dolby Atmos.
The immersive version was created by Eric Horstmann, opening the arrangements into a three-dimensional space and revealing additional depth within the piano, synthesizers, textures, and ambiance.
For an album built around space, atmosphere, and detail, Dolby Atmos feels like a natural extension of the music.
