Inside My Sound: Featured by Genelec

I’m very happy to share that Genelec has featured me in a new interview about my music, my studio, and the way I approach composition, production, mixing, and mastering.

Thomas Lemmer - Studio

The conversation followed my win at the German Songwriting Award in the Music for Motion Picture category for Nocturnal Embrace. We talked about what that recognition meant to me, the story behind the piece, and why emotion is always the starting point of my work.

One subject that runs throughout the interview is something I care deeply about: technology should always serve the music — never become the music itself. I talk about the tiny details that can completely change the feeling of a production, from the resonance and decay of a piano to field recordings, space, dynamics, and sometimes something as subtle as the length of a reverb tail.

Genelec also invited me to share more about my studio in Bramsche and my hybrid production workflow. For me, having a reliable and inspiring studio environment is essential because it allows me to stop thinking about the technology and concentrate on what really matters: the music and the emotion behind it.

We also talk about DREAMSCAPES II, immersive audio, working with Eric Horstmann on Dolby Atmos, and some of the collaborations and musical ideas that continue to inspire me.

It’s a very personal look behind the scenes of how I work and how I think about sound.

A big thank you to Genelec for the feature and for giving me the opportunity to share a little more of the world behind my music.
